A Cranbrook-based crown prosecutor has been appointed to the bench.
Mandy Klein, a lawyer of 16 years, and member of the B.C. Crown Prosecution Service since 2017, will take over her new role April 29.
In a release from the Province, Klein was recognized for her work with Indigenous leadership to develop effective and appropriate ways to bring the community’s voice to the court process in the East Kootenay.
To be chosen, interested lawyers apply to the Judicial Council of BC.
The council then submits the names of candidates to the Attorney General.
Klein was one of two appointments announced Friday.
The other, Cariboo crown counsellor Sabena Thompson, is based out of Williams Lake.
