A large dumping of snow has prompted Avalanche Canada to issue a high danger rating for mountain ranges between Kimberley and Golden.
Forecasters say the danger is high in the alpine in mountain ranges stretching from Golden to the north and Kimberley in the south.
They say up to 45 centimetres of recent snow and strong northerly winds has created dangerous storm slabs reactive to human triggers at all elevations.
Forecasters add that very large human triggered avalanches are likely in the alpine.
Backcountry enthusiasts are being advised to avoid overhead hazards and make conservative terrain choices.
