The City of Cranbrook will begin construction on Phase 1 of the Victoria Avenue Sanitary Sewer Trunk reconstruction project starting Monday, July 14.
The work will take place between 2nd Street North and 6th Street North and includes replacement of the existing sanitary sewer trunk main to address capacity issues.
Upgrades to watermains and road paving are also part of the project.
To accommodate construction, traffic on this section of Victoria Avenue will be reduced to one lane in each direction until late October.
The City is encouraging drivers to avoid the area if possible to reduce congestion and maintain access for emergency vehicles.
Traffic control will be in place throughout the duration of the work.
Copcan Civil LP is the contractor for the project and will begin mobilizing equipment and establishing traffic measures this week.
The City of Cranbrook acknowledges funding support from the Canada Community Building Fund, formerly known as the Gas Tax Fund.
