With the mercury expected to climb in the coming days, so too, comes a warning from the Regional District of East Kootenay to be ready for flooding.
The regional district is warning that our recent dump of snow, particularly around the Cranbrook area, combined with warmer temperatures could mean localized flooding, but also added weight to rooves on homes and businesses, as well.
Among the suggestions: to check gutters and downspouts, spread out or remove any large piles of snow, and have sandbags, at the ready, especially for flood-prone areas.
Another good idea is to have the RDEK and provincial emergency pages bookmarked on your smartphone and computer.
For the district, it’s: https://www.rdek.bc.ca/departments/protectiveservices/emergencyinfo/
For the Province, its: https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/safety/emergency-management/preparedbc
