A Water Quality Advisory has been issued by the City of Fernie.
Children, the elderly and those with weakened immune systems are encouraged to drink boiled water for the time being.
The Advisory comes after Fernie’s Fairy Creek Water Supply received a “Fair” rating on the turbidity index.
You can learn more below.
Responding to a ‘Fair’ rating on the Turbidity Index, the City of Fernie has issued a WATER QUALITY ADVISORY.
While the associated health risks are minimal, the City of Fernie and Interior Health recommend that children, the elderly, people with weakened immune systems, and anyone seeking additional protection drink boiled water or a safe alternative until further notice.
For these at-risk populations, water intended for drinking, washing fruits or vegetables, making juice or ice, or brushing teeth should be boiled for one minute.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, and appreciate your patience during this time.
